Happy 4th of July USA :) Today was WE GET TO SLEEP IN DAY!!! We all slept until 11:45 am..much needed sleep. Amy, Jamie and Carina all stayed up until 3:00 am while I went to sleep at midnight! We had ANOTHER delicious breakfast..well..brunch :P. We biked to the market and bought all of our american food! We cooked Cheese burgers, mac n cheese french fries and baked a cake! Carina's friends brought chips and teddy cracker things :) We ate A LOT! The house was all decorated with american stuff..the front door had a sign that we made that said "Welcome to the...USA" and the sliding doors going to the back patio said "Happy Fourth of July". There we towels hanging over the railing going to her upstairs..and there was a towel hanging over the door that they would see after they walked into the house. We played all american music on my laptop..and even the germans sang a few! :P After dinner we all were talking about going to the indoor/outdoor water park that is called Arriba...Carina really wanted to take us there and her friends said that they would go as well. But there was NO WAY to get there..her mom had takin the car that we call "the tour bus" and the other friends live forever away! But the two guy friends saved the day! They quick biked home and got us with the cars! I was really suprised how fast it was (considering it was 30 min to one of their house by car!). After getting the cars..we all started the drive :) When we finally got there..everzthing was so overwhelming! There was just so many funt hings to do :) We all jumped in one of the pools and swam for a few minutes..and then we all went for the water slides! All seven of us really enjoyed them! When the end of our time at the waterpark was getting closer..all of us went to the diving boards and did all sorts of jumps! That was a lot of fun! We had spalsh competitions too! We were sad to have to leave..but we had a great time while it lasted :) After Arriba, we all went to a friends house to watch the 4th Harry Potter movie :). We stayed there until midnight. and then Amy, Jamie, Carina and myself went to Carina's house to do our famous fourth of July SPARKLERS!!! We took some pictures (that I REALLY want to post) and we took a video too! We all are driving to Lubeck today and we are staying for three nights there..so I really don't know if I will be able to blog again..until we return (I hope there is WIRELESS)!!! Reguardless..we are all really excited and can't wait for this new adventure! I am excited to blog more about lubeck and all it has to offer to us american girls! But I'm sorry to all back home if it takes me a while to blog! I know all of you are eager to hear! Keep praying and I will post again soon!!
xoxo

That was one busy day! It is so cool that y'all celebrated The Fourth of July in Germany. Gracie and Buddy do not appreciate the fireworks at all.
ReplyDeletePumpkin! I am going to attempt to POST on my own...I love that you are staying active biking and swimming!!! I googled Lubeck, and I am excited to hear what you think about that area. Sounds like you enjoyed the Target/Walmart USA stuff we packed?! Too bad they don't have those stores in Germany? I LOVE AND MISS YOU and LOVE your BLOG...AND I don't feel soooo electronically challenged...MOM
ReplyDeleteRach, I'm glad you made it to the indoor waterpark I've heard so much about! I bet you got some cool sparklers pictures...did you play with shutter speed to capture the movements of the sparklers? I've enjoyed reading your blog :) what is the most interesting thing you've learned about germany so far (leave it to me to go all educational on ya)? I think its about 5am or so in Germany, so I hope you are sleeping soundly! Missed you at the kd fireworks...we found the best place to watch them and didn't have to fight traffic getting out at the end. But those kinda secrets can't be posted wildly on the Internet for all to discover.
ReplyDeleteHi BOB!
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad are having so much fun! Avery says she misses you like crazy and she hopes you come home soon to give her those cow kisses:) Just kidding! I also hope you can find her a onesie with that hagan daas font haha I cant believe you have almost been gone a week! I really hope you ave been wearing your suspenders! What are the fashion trends over there right now? I dont think I would fit in over there. Zach says khkjaskfhkhkehrhnf jkjaishfhlkhfie (you should ask the germans what this means)(he thinks he is bilingual) We love you and miss you be safe and keep us posted!!!

Hey Rachel, I have enjoyed reading about all your travels! I am interested in what you see as the biggest cultural differences for the young adults your age. What colleges are nearby? What jobs/careers are your friends looking for? How well does everyone speak English? Are you learning German? ok, enough questions! Love you, DD
ReplyDeleteKK- It was so much fun to celebrate with her german friends! It was one heck of an experience! Abunch of teens trying to make a meal to eat :P
ReplyDeleteMomma- :) good job on the post!! I am proud of you!! I am going to post ALL of my blogs about Lubeck at once! The no wireless killed me for those 3 days! But we had a BLAST!! :) the usa things came in handy, the towels made good decoration! I have a ton of pictures that I really want to post NOW!!! And no there is no target or walmart..I WISH :P but it's cool!! and about the biking and swimming..I feel like I have lost soo much weight :P And I am glad you don't feel so electronically challanged :P and I love and miss you too!!!. <3
Megaboo- I am really glad I made it to that too! The only down fall is I had to take a break casue my sugar got really low and I had to take a break and eat something, but it was still so much fun while it lasted! We took some spakler pictures and made a quick movie but I didn't have my big camera out casue it was really late and we couldn't make a lot of noise cause her parents had work in the morning..and the shutter speed would have been really cool!! I wish it wasn't so late but we had fun anyways :P. I'm so glad you are enjoying the blog <3 I really love keeping everyone updated!! The most interesting thing so far would problly have to be the tips! It's kind of a boring response but germans do not tip as much..for a fifteen dollar meal they only leave like one euro. And I'd leave like a five! Haha it was really really hard getting used to that when we would always go out to eat! The first day I gave way too much! I gave the lady a euro when my total was only 3. oh well!! :P. And it suprises me that you would be the one to go all educational..But I think my aunt donna is the winner..don't try to beat her :P haha that was a lot!! :P <3. And YES!! By 5:00 we are always passed out!! I wish I was there for fireworks too but it was really fun here in Germany..<3 It's a good thing you didn't get caught up in traffic! That's always the worst part! And it's okay..you can tell me all the secrets when I see you in ONE WEEK!! <3.
Hi NAY NAY or MOMMA!! I'm not sure who posted that :P <3 love ya'll!!! <3
Nay- I am so glad I am having fun too!! :) I miss bopppiee like CRAZY TOO!! And it's okay..tell her I will give her extra cow kisses when I get home <3 ;). And I have been looking for onesies but they are not as popular here for some reason, I have seen ugly bibs..but she CANNOT be seen in an ugly bib..who would give a princess such a thing :P I already got my girl something that she can keep for a longg time!! <3. And YEP! Time has flown though..this next week is going to be a blur..it's a good thing that I am blogging everything casue withoutthis I would've forgotten everything!! :P. It's so much to remember..cause we do soo much every day!! And I am bummed..I have not found good suspenders to buy..or any..!! But I am on the look out!! The fashion trends over here are very urban outfitter and H&M feels..a lot of leggings! I am soo bummed I didn't bring mine!! But I have bouight some!! :) And yeah you would! Except..you don't like converses..so that may be the only difference..It's so crayy cause like every foot you look at..EVERYONE wears the converse shoes!!! It's so crazy!!..but I love it!! It's so cute with everything..this one pretty family, the momma was wearing a really cute dress with converse shoes! And she pulled it off! All I could think about was..I know Nay WOULD NOT approve :P <3. and tell zach..that sounds like a lot of flim!! :P <3 and Carina laughed when I read that to her :P haha <3 I love you brother!! and I love ya'll too!! Give bops some kisses for me! I miss ya'll!! I will be as safe as possible and I will DEF keep you posted <3
ReplyDeleteDD- Hyy DD :) I love that you are enjoying all of the posts!! The biggest cultural difference between teens in germany and america is DEF the drinking age!! Everyone parties hard over here! But they are all so mature about not drinking and driving and they are so much more careful about when to stop! It's so crayy! No one is like passed out but they are all partying and having a good time! There is a private college in carina's city Elmshorn and there are universities in all of the big cities around like hamburg and kiel. Jobs that her friends may be looking for in the future is being a doctor. And jobs now would be painting, working at a grocery store, tutoring..basically the same stuff we would do for the extra money!! :P. It depends on the age, cause Carinas grade they have been in english for 8 years but they learn british english so it's a little different (but that also depends on the teacher). I am learning a little bit! I can say somethings like Danke (thank you). Bitte (your welcome). (En)`tschuldigung (excuse me or it means sorry). And I know a few more, but that's about it haha <3. And I like questions but make that your limit hahahaha <3 love you!! :)
